Luck

The Luck effect from Basil's fish dishes - better wishes at the fountain, better fishing, bigger harvests and extra ore.

Luck is a status effect that makes good things happen a little more often across Blockville. It comes from food, mostly Chef Basil's fish dishes, and while it lasts it improves wishes at the Wishing Fountain, fishing for storylines, harvesting crops and mining ore. Every time Luck pays off, a few green sparkles appear and ☘ Lucky! shows above the hotbar.

#What Luck does

#Wishes

A Wishing Coin dropped into the fountain by a lucky player rolls better odds:

Result Normal Lucky
Nothing 55% 35%
Small wish ($50 to $200) 30% 38%
Big wish ($500 to $1,000) 14% 25%
Jackpot ($5,000) 1% 2%

A lucky coin is worth about $335 on average, against about $190 normally. The welcome tour's coin always pays a small wish, lucky or not.

#Fishing

  • When a storyline step asks for a particular catch (salmon, pufferfish, a treasure...), about half of all casts land it. With Luck, about three in four do.
  • Any cast has an 8% chance of bringing up a bonus treasure as well: a name tag, saddle, nautilus shell, or an enchanted book, bow or fishing rod. It counts for treasure steps.

#Harvests

Harvesting a fully grown crop has a 15% chance of one extra: wheat, carrots, potatoes, beetroot, nether wart, cocoa beans, and the town's tomatoes, garlic, lettuce, chili peppers, rice and tobacco. Pumpkins and melons don't count.

#Mining

Mining an ore has a 10% chance of one extra drop (coal, raw iron, diamonds, and so on). Ores mined with Silk Touch and ancient debris don't count.
